Factors to Consider When Selecting a Mattress Size

A lot of thought goes into the purchase of a mattress. Are you someone with back problems? Do you need an adjustable frame? Are you someone who has sleeping problems? After considering the answers to these questions, people often leave the most important one for last: what size mattress do you want?

There’s a huge size difference between a Twin and a King-sized bed. Here are a few factors to definitely consider before selecting a mattress size:

  1. Who’s sleeping on it?

If this is a mattress for you and your spouse, you’re going to want to consider a bigger size, probably in the Queen to King range. Sleep is an integral part of our productivity every day, and being able to sleep with calm, relaxed space from your partner is important.

If this is a bed for your children, however, then a Twin size is definitely the way to go. It all depends on who’s occupying the mattress.

  1. What’s available?

You may have a specific brand, firmness, composition, and style all picked out when it comes to your mattress. But, it may only be available in a Full or a King, with not much wiggle room. It’s important to remember the traditional mattress sizing from small to large: Twin, Full, Queen, and King.

  1. What’s the size of the room?

Most of us would like a King-sized bed. Who doesn’t want a massive, soft mattress to jump on after a long day of work? The problem is that many bedrooms are not equipped to handle a bed of a King-size. Take measurements before you place an order for a mattress, or you may find yourself unfortunately returning it.

Pick a mattress size that satisfies all three of these factors. Though it may sound easier said than done, with patience and a little elbow grease, you’ll get the mattress you need.
