WHY YOU SHOULD BUY

The Flex a Bed HI-Low SL is a fully loaded adjustable bed with several features that make it great for those who have trouble getting into and out of bed. One of the prominent attributes is its ability to raise vertically by 7.5 inches. The Flex a Bed also has side rails that provide hand-holding support so it is easy to get into and out of bed.

These are optional though upon purchase. It is because they do not usually come as a default feature with this adjustable bed. If desired as well, there is a wire or wireless remote option. There are those who like the wire because of the proximity to the bed. Some of the optional lengths include 53 inches by 74 inches, 53 inches by 84 inches, and 53 inches by 80 inches

Bed Rails:  The side rails come in sets of two. These can be attached to the head or feet. There will also be two sets available for those who prefer head and feet side rails.

Mattress Option:  Flex a Bed allows the customer to choose their mattress or get a customized option. The standard full-size mattress is 74 inches, but it is possible to install a custom-made alternative. That could as large as 80 inches by 84 inches. Typically, this is the size of an XL-length mattress.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY

Transfer master’s supernal hi low is a surprisingly affordable yet high-end luxury bed. Typically, the transfer master’s full-size bed would measure 53 inches by 80 inches as opposed to the full size of 53 inches by 75 inches, so it is longer.

The 2023 model also has two iterations which are the supernal 3 and the supernal 3 basic. Customers that prefer the older supernal 3 model can benefit from all of the available features like a wall hugger massage. The basic option only has the head and foot. Extra features are only available on the supernal 3 Hi-Low. It also has a vertical range of 10.5 to 20.5 inches.

Optional to Buy

Mattress Option:  The full-size mattress on the frame is required to be 53 by 80 inches which would be a full extra-large sizing. According to Transfer Masters, the mattress should be that size. Considering the full-size bed is longer than 75 inches, a standard mattress would not be suitable. It would fit better with those beds that are 80 inches long.

Bed Rails:  It is worth noting the side rails on the supernal 3 are only on one part of the bed. That is at the head.

Transfer Masters Supernal 5 adjustable bed come available with other features not present in typical full-size hospital beds. For example, the whole base can raise p and down from a range of 12 to 24 inches. It also has the Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg options. The former is the typical position for a patient on the operating table. It is used for lower abdominal surgeries and venous catheter placing. Reverse Trendelenburg position though is a position where the patient’s hip and knee are not flexed. Though the upper body is elevated at 30 degrees than the abdomen. There is also an option to buy a cherry finish headboard.

Option to Buy

Mattress Option: The Supernal 5 full-size hospital-style bed is like the supernal 3-bed size. At full size, the dimensions are 53 inches by 80 inches. Though, Transfer masters make their own mattresses for that size, as well.

Bed Rails: The bed rails on the Supernal 5 are only on one side which is the head. There are only side rails for the feet.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY

Transfer Master Valiant HD is made for people who need a full-size hospital bed at home.  Its Hi-Low feature can raise the base vertically 13.5 to 23.5 inches from the ground. It also comes with the Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positions. The HD version can carry a maximum of 600 pounds so this is one of the more heavy-duty alternatives.

Its length may also be adjusted. The Valiant HD may be had as either 80 or 84 inches. There are standard Transfer Masters Valiant and Valiant SHD options as well. This former has a weight capacity of 300 pounds, while the other can carry 750 pounds.

Option to Buy

Mattress Options:  The Valiant HD is not a standard full-size bed. It is larger considering it is 80 inches long. That is six inches more than the standard full-length size. It is also adjustable as the length can be 80 or 84 inches. The full-size mattress ought to be the same length as the base, and not a standard length full size of 74 inches.

Rails: There are half rails positioned at the head and the feet. Purchasers should note that a set is only two so if one desires both heat and foot rails, they would need two sets.

What are the dimensions of a full-size hospital bed?

Each full-size hospital bed can have differing measurements.  Most are going to be 54 inches wide.  The lengths can be 74 inches, 80 inches or 84 inches.  This is dependent on the manufacturer and in some cases the model.  See the chart above for specific dimensions of each listed bed.

 

What are the options in mattress for a full-size hospital bed?

There are a lot of choices when it comes to mattresses that can be used on these full-size hospital beds.  Memory foam, latex and hybrid mattress will work with these sleep systems.  For custom or special sizes outside of the traditional 53”x80” full, you may find it cost effective to use a matching mattress made by the bed manufacturer for that specific bed.  Otherwise, having a special custom mattress built to fit may be more expensive.  If you would rather have a custom mattress built, we can do that, too.  Call for a quote.

 

Are there bed rails available for full size hospital beds?

If you want bed rails that are fitted to a full-size hospital bed, they are available on select models.  The Flex a Bed, and Transfer Master Supernal all have the option to add bed rails.
