What is a six chamber air mattress?

A six-chamber adjustable air mattress is one that includes six, separate air chambers.  The idea behind having multiple chambers in an air mattress, is for targeted adjustability.  Having distinct sections allows for the use of different support settings at different points in the bed.  In a six-chamber air mattress, each side of the bed has three zones.  One side is not tied to the other, so the person on each side can have a personalized sleep experience.  On most of these beds, the head and foot setting of the six-chamber air mattress will be adjusted together.  When this is the case, the air chamber that supports the lumbar has a separate adjustment.

Sizes of Six Chamber Air Mattress

It is the larger sizes that are typically available as a six-chamber air mattress.  They are available in a single Queen, King or California King.  These multi-zoned airbeds aren’t limited to single sizes either.  You can also get a six-chamber air mattress in a split-top mattress design or even as a fully split mattress.  The split-top Queen, split-top King, and split-top California King six chamber mattress are options.  Both the fully split King size and fully split California King size air mattress comes in this style as well.  Three air chambers are located on each side of these larger size mattresses directed at head, foot and lumbar support.

Benefits of a Six-Chamber Air Mattress

More support control is the principal benefit of a six-chamber air mattress.  Users can better manage the support of each area of the body.  Our bodies naturally put more weight on the lumbar region when laying down.  So, it makes sense that the support needs in this portion of the mattress may be different than in the others.  While a dual air mattress may be beneficial in more equally dispersing this weight, a six-chamber air mattress does more.  The tri-zoned sides increase the support options available and puts the power to choose in your hands.  The fact that each side has its own arrangement, further extends the advantage.

How to Adjust the Six-Chamber Air Mattress

Depending on which six-chamber air mattress you are working with, it can be adjusted one of two ways.  The first is by using an included remote.  It is the most straightforward method, utilizing simple up and down arrows to increase and decrease the air volume.  The second way is through use of App Controls.  This is one way to operate the Kingsdown six-chamber air mattress.  Once the App is downloaded it is fairly similar to the remote.  There are arrows to direct the head and feet sections as well as the lumbar part.  Either approach yields the same results, easy adjusting and targeted support.

Three and Six Air Chamber Mattresses

The three-chamber air mattress has head, lumbar and feet chambers in a single mattress.  A six-chamber air mattress also has these sections, but it doubles them so that each side has its own set.  Six chamber air mattresses can be made up of one large mattress or two smaller mattresses used side by side.  Basically, a split sized six-chamber mattress will consist of two three-chamber mattresses.  Large single mattresses and split-top mattresses combine all six chambers into a one-piece mattress.  Whether to go with a single, split-top or fully split airbed will depend on other factors.  A few include how the bed will be used and transportation issues.

New and Improved Airbeds

Air mattresses have come a long way over the years.  Many are constructed of very good, high-quality materials that last for years.  Also, thanks to developments in technology, adjusting the firmness and support of almost any air mattress is extremely easy.  Air mattresses can be used on platform beds and with standard bed frames.  Many people don’t realize you can even couple this mattress type with an adjustable bed.  A six-chamber air mattress is good for couples that don’t agree on a mattress firmness level. They can also be great for those who have support needs that are not met by traditional mattresses.
