Custom Comforter Considerations

Material: The fabric used in producing these custom comforters is 100% cotton.  Cotton is a breathable fabric that makes a good blanket.  It is warm but doesn’t retain or magnify heat.  It’s also a nice feeling material compared to blended fabrics which tend to trap heat resulting in overheating.  Cotton is cool and comfortable and that’s why it is designated as the ideal fabric for these custom comforters.

Size: Your primary reason for purchasing a custom comforter is based on the need for special sizing.  So, it is vital that you order the correct size for your needs.  Keep in mind that when you choose the dimensions, you may not want to simply state the mattress size.  You will want dimensions you provide to include sufficient size to cover the sleep surface as well as any draping you want.  Typically, comforters have a 12-inch hang on each side as well as a 12-inch hang on the foot of the bed.  This is done to hide the box spring and mattress edge from visible sides.  You may want a shorter or longer drape conditional to your specific situation.  Your custom comforter will measure the length and width you provide.

Color: The color chosen will not only impact the comforter visually, it will also determine the tread count.  Each color option has differing tread counts.  To make it easy to compare, we have created a chart that outlines all the available colors for your custom comforter and their accompanying tread counts.  This color collection is comprised of a variety of colors which act as neutral colors to match any décor style.

Questions and Answers

What is a difference between duvet and a comforter?

Comforters are usually thinner than duvets but larger in length and width.  While a duvet can be used in place of a comforter, they traditionally require a cover.  Think of a duvet like a large, fluffy pillow that needs a pillowcase.  Comforters are simpler in that they don’t necessitate the extra accessory.

Are there custom mattresses to fit a custom comforter?

Yes, we can customize a mattress in any size you want or need.  Give us a call at 1-469-314-4051 to discuss your needs and all the options!

How do I know the right size of comforter?

The first thing you will want to do is measure the sleep surface to find length and width.  Then, you have a decision to make.  How much longer and wider do you want the comforter to be beyond the bed surface?  Whatever you add to the surface measurement will result in a drape along the sides and end of the bed.  Do note however, that when the bed is made, a comforter will usually line up flush against the headboard.  So, when adding inches for length, you only want to add the drape length once, on the end.  For the sides, you will want to add drape length desired for each side.  Of course, measurements will be based on your situation so you get to decide what size you need!
