Buying the right Full-size mattress?

There are a few things to take into consideration when purchasing a Full-size mattress. For example, do you sleep on your back, stomach or side?  Sleep position may influence the optimal comfort level.  Generally speaking, side and back sleepers will be most comfortable on a medium comfort level mattress.  This allows the hips to sink in just enough to be the most beneficial and provide you with the best sleep possible.  Firmer mattresses might be a better option for stomach sleepers as they support the hips, preventing them from dipping into the mattress.  They key here is body alignment.  Another issue in selecting a Full-size mattress is which mattress type is preferred.  Mattresses can be latex, memory foam, air, or hybrid.

Full Size Mattress Dimensions

It is important to know the difference between the dimensions of a Full-size and a Full XL size mattress.  The traditional Full size mattress dimensions are 54” x 75”.  A Full XL mattress is longer at 54” x 80”.  The regular Full-size mattress is great for pre-teens, teens, and even seniors. You may consider purchasing the Full XL mattress for taller teens. The Full XL mattress is also a great size for young single adults.

Full Size Mattress vs Queen Size Mattress

The Full-size mattress is a standard mattress size.  At 54” x 75”, is slightly smaller than a Queen size mattress.  The Queen is 60” x 80”, adding six inches to the width and five to the length of the bed.  Both the Full-size and Queen-size mattresses can be used for single sleepers and couples.  The Queen offers more surface space though, so it tends to do so more comfortably.  The smaller size of the Full allows it to take up less bedroom space and fit better in smaller areas.  Both sizes are available widely in a number of brands and models.
